General Information
This charming recently restored house is well located in a small and beautiful square (Piazza del Tribunale) of the ancient hill town of Lucignano, about half-way between Siena and Arezzo.
The village boasts four circles of fortified walls and life here is pretty much the same as it has always been. The tranquil square is flanked at one end by the beautiful ancient buildings of the Tribunal and a church; on two sides of the piazza are some small ancient houses and this is where we find Casa Cafiero. The location is excellent for visiting Siena, Cortona, Florence, Arezzo and the many other smaller towns of Tuscany.
This is an excellent property for a winter stay. During summer a swimming pool at the owner's country house nearby below the town, is available for guests' use.
Entry from the square into the living room with sofas around the fireplace, then through an archway into the dining area and then to the very well-equipped kitchen (large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, four gas burners, electric oven). On this floor is a full bathroom with shower.
Stairs up to the middle floor where there is a library/living room with two single sofabeds (they look like ottomans - not sofas), a queen size bedroom and bathroom with stall shower. Up yet another flight of stairs to the top floor.
Here is small study overlooking the square, a very large bathroom with tub and separate stall shower and the master bedroom with queensize bed. The ceilings are wood-beamed. All has been newly and very well restored. Furnishings are very comfortable and in good taste.
Lovely views across the countryside from the rear windows, across the rooftops of the village. There is a washing machine in the basement and also at this level, from the rear street, is entrance to the garage.
