Description
On the top of acollina at the foot of Cortona, in a quiet and tranquil environment, is Villa Bietolini, majestic construction with large private gardens, swimming pool and tennis court, available for the guests. Brothers Don Guiseppe Maria and Michelangelo Manciati built the Villa in 1773. The Villa was then purchased by the Marchesi Bourbon di Petrella, and aristocratic family who descended from the Bourbons of Spain (and from which stems the heraldry and crest which is still above the main entrance). The current owners purchased the property in 1920. The building is constructed using architecture typical of Cortenese Villas with much of the internal parts of the villa conserve the furnishings, alfresco and décor of the original construction. One of the rooms hosts an important collection of antique stamps from Cortona dating back to 1507 and relating to the Patron Saint Margerita. In the small church with in the Villa, apart from the somber yet delightful frescos is a silver reliquary, with the pontiffs seal, contained is a tiny piece of the cross of Jesus Christ. The library contains over 5000 humorous and satirical books and reviews. The gardens are large and rich with many varieties of plants and trees like pines acacias etc, on offer are two structures for renting; Villa Augusto and Villa Rolando. Villino SilvanaThe dependenceVillino Silvana is all on ground floor in a park of the gardens of the Villa and is richly furnished with furniture and art of the period, and has all of the modern comforts. The apartment has independent heating and a fireplace, television and dishwasher, externally there are tables chairs and deck chairs, there is also at disposition a covered area with barbeque, which is ideal for siestas and romantic dinners. This apartment is ideal for 4 people and it is possible to add up to a further 2 beds on request. The apartment is comprised of a large lounge dining room, kitchen with fireplace, bathroom with shower and bathtub, one double bed and on bedroom with 2 single beds.
