The area: The main town is Castiglion Fiorentino, a medieval full of history. From here you can visit Cortona and Arezzo which are about 15 minutes away or, within an hours drive you are able to visit many Tuscan and Umbrian towns such as Florence, Siena, Assisi, Pienza, the Chianti region, Montepulciano - to name but a few. We can also arrange wine tours for our guests. There is a train station at Castiglion with trains to Rome and Florence
More important is the fact that we know how much planning goes into a holiday and that there is too long a space between vacations. Here at Casa Portagioia, relaxation is the keyword. We look after our guests every need, from a leisurely breakfast overlooking olive groves, helping arrange your day trips to the fabulous sites of Tuscany and Umbria - and when just a lazy day is planned, our heated pool with its gorgeous views of the Valle di Chio will get you ready for the various restaurants of Cortona, Arezzo and Castiglion Fiorentino. Location Description
Castiglion Fiorentino is in the Arezzo province of Tuscany. Its clsoest airports are Florence, Pisa and Rome. Driving along the main Italian Autostrada (highway/motorway) exit at Monte San Savino.
Castiglion Fiorentino is an Etruscan town with museum (and working archaeological site), medieval churches and other places of Interest abounds. About 10 kilometres away is Cortona set on a hillside dominating the local landscape and has many fine churches and important works of art.
